The Black Forest wildfire destroyed more than 500 properties
As of mid-July, residents of El Paso County, the site of the Black Forest fire, filed claims totaling $365 million, according to Verisk's Property Claim Services® (PCS®). The fire is the second most expensive wildfire in the state's history.
El Paso County, also home to the 2012 Waldo Canyon fire that caused $450 million of insured losses, contains the third highest number of properties at extreme risk for wildfire in the state.
