Dr. Jeff Amthor is an assistant vice president in Verisk’s extreme event solutions team. He develops and supports Verisk wildfire risk models and agricultural risk models used by reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, and insurers across the globe. Jeff has extensive research and modeling experience at the U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. Climate Change Science Program), USDA’s Agricultural Research Service, and within the U.S. National Laboratory system (Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Oak Ridge National Lab) for crops beginning 1989 and wildfire 1996. He was a Lecturer in Forest Ecophysiology at Yale University, research scientist at UC Davis, and Professor of Agronomy at the University of Sydney. Jeff has published two books and over 70 scientific articles. He holds a PhD from Yale (plant ecophysiology) and MS degrees from Texas A&M (agronomy) and Yale (forest ecology).
