Illinois registration changes: mailed renewal notices to cease

Due to a budget-saving measure, Illinois drivers will no longer receive vehicle registration renewal notices through the postal service. This will save the state $5.5 million annually, said Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

Vehicle owners who don’t renew their registration on time will be assessed a fine, which they’ll have to pay in addition to the renewal fee.
