Laura K. Ipsen joined Verisk's board in 2020, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive of various data and technology businesses. She also brings her in-depth knowledge of digital transformation, the cloud, and industry technologies with expertise in energy. Ms. Ipsen is president and chief executive officer of Ellucian, the leading technology solutions provider for more than 2,700 higher education institutions in more than 50 countries.
Previously, Ms. Ipsen was general manager and senior vice president for the Oracle Marketing Cloud and ran the Industry Solutions group. Before Oracle, she was corporate vice president of Microsoft’s worldwide public sector organization, serving government, education, and non-privatized healthcare customers in more than 100 countries.
Ms. Ipsen spent more than a decade at Cisco Systems, where she spearheaded the creation of Cisco’s Connected Energy Business Unit focused on building smart-grid solutions for utilities around the world. She also established and led Cisco’s worldwide government affairs division. She has held leadership roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Acer America, and Hitachi Data Systems.
She holds a BA in international relations from the University of Virginia.
Ms. Ipsen is currently on the Board of Directors for the Business-Higher Ed Forum (BHEF) based in Washington, D.C., and is a member of WomenCorporateDirectors (WCD). She has served on the Monsanto Board of Directors and is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Silicon Valley Chapter.
