Verisk Industry Thought Leader Elected to MARC and MSPN Posts!

Verisk is proud to share an exciting update that highlights our continued leadership in the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) space. Please join me in congratulating Kate Riordan, J.D., on her leadership roles within two key industry organizations.

Kate Riordan, J.D. – MARC Coalition and MSPN

A big congratulations to Kate Riordan, J.D., Verisk’s VP, Policy & Product Innovation, who continues to play an active leadership role in advancing MSP compliance across the industry.

Kate will serve as an At-Large representative on the Executive Committee of the Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition (MARC). As noted on MARC’s website, MARC is “a national coalition advocating for the improvement of the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) programs … dedicated to building collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances with beneficiaries, affected companies, and a wide range of other stakeholders to work with the Congress and government agencies to recommend solutions and implement MSP reforms that will improve the process for all, especially Medicare beneficiaries.”[1]

In this role, Kate will work alongside industry leaders to evaluate key issues, develop solutions, and help improve MSP compliance processes for all stakeholders.

In addition, Kate was recently elected President of the National Medicare Secondary Payer Network (MSPN). According to MSPN, the organization “is the only non-profit association exclusively addressing the issues and challenges of the Medicare Secondary Payer Statute and its impact on workers' compensation and liability settlements … The National MSP Network is a forum for the exchange of ideas and is a leading resource for information and news in this constantly evolving area of practice.[2]

As President, Kate provides strategic leadership to advance MSP education, collaboration, and best practices. She works closely with the Board of Directors, industry stakeholders, and federal agencies to help shape dialogue around evolving CMS policies and their impact on claims and compliance.

Leadership at Verisk

Kate has been with Verisk for 15 years and currently serves as VP, Policy & Product Innovation. In this role, she helps insurers navigate MSP compliance through education, process development, and thought leadership. She also leads the development of automated solutions to address emerging MSP challenges and ensures that Verisk’s policies, products, and services remain aligned with the evolving regulatory landscape.

Kate brings deep expertise across all aspects of MSP compliance, including having completed and obtained approval of thousands of Medicare Set-Asides (MSAs). She regularly provides client training, presents at national industry events, and publishes articles on MSP compliance, analytics, and broader claims-related topics.

Kate’s leadership across both MARC and MSPN reflects Verisk’s ongoing commitment to helping clients stay ahead of regulatory change while improving compliance outcomes through data, insight, and innovation.
