The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that it is holding a Non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) and Certain Civil Money Penalties (CMPs) Informational Webinar. This webinar is set for January 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. ET.
CMS describes this event as follows:
CMS will be hosting a webinar regarding CMPs for the NGHP Responsible Reporting Entities (RREs). The presentation by CMS will include reminders about the Final Rule and auditing process, anticipated correspondence, and a question-and-answer session.
See CMS’s notice for instructions on how to attend this CMS webinar event.
Of note, CMS’s Section 111 randomized quarterly audits for CMPs start in January 2026 and, as noted in CMS’s description above, this is one of the topics that will be addressed. CMS’s audit process is the process by which CMS will identify potential non-compliant records for CMPs purposes. It will be interesting to see what information CMS plans to discuss regarding its upcoming audit process, as well as other topics the agency decides to discuss. In preparation for this webinar, the reader may wish to review the authors' recent Section 111 FAQ’s article which provides key information regarding CMS’s Section 111 CMPs process in general, including its planned audit process (FAQ#9).
Per usual, Verisk policy team members will attend this webinar, and we will release a webinar summary shortly following this event.
Please contact the authors if you have any questions.
