Insurance fraud is entering a new era
Gen AI and accessible editing tools are lowering the barrier to digital fraud. As manipulated photos and documents become easier to produce, detection strategies that worked in the past may no longer be enough.
Based on surveys of 1,000 U.S. consumers and 300 insurance claims professionals, the study shows:
- 55% of Gen Z say they would consider editing a claim photo or document
- 98% of insurers say AI editing tools are fueling digital fraud
- Only 32% of insurers feel very confident detecting deepfakes
- 69% of consumers believe fraud will raise premiums for all policyholders
