JERSEY CITY, N.J., January 8, 2015 — Verisk Analytics announced today that New York, Connecticut, and Georgia have approved its Verisk Telematics Safety Scoring® driver discount program, bringing the number of states where the behavior-based program is available to 41. Verisk Telematics offers a comprehensive set of analytical tools for telematics and usage-based insurance (UBI) programs. Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq:VRSK) is a leading source of information about risk.
The Verisk Telematics Safety Scoring program for personal and commercial vehicles monitors driver behavior and provides a risk score that underwriters can use to provide discounts for safe drivers. To develop the risk score, the program tracks every driving trip to identify risky driving behavior, such as speeding, fast breaking, and cornering. Policyholders can view feedback about their driving performance on Driving DNA,®, Verisk Telematics’ user-friendly web portal.
“Our Safety Scoring system gives insurers the ability to review each individual’s driving style, helping them link premiums to actual driving risk,” said Jim Levendusky, vice president of Verisk Telematics. “This capability allows insurers to create programs based on how customers actually drive. Providing driver feedback is critical in helping drivers modify behavior and promoting safer roads for everyone.”
Verisk Telematics also offers GeoMetric®, a risk score and driver discount rule that rewards policyholders who drive in areas safer than where their vehicles are garaged. The GeoMetric® manual rule is currently available in 34 states.
