JERSEY CITY, N.J., Aug. 5, 2004 — John C. Dvorak, author, columnist and PC Magazine contributing editor, will be the keynote speaker at ISOTech 2004, the property/casualty industry's insurance technology conference, at the New Orleans Marriott on Nov. 14Â16. The three-day conference is sponsored by ISO.
In his keynote speech, "The Horrors of Modern Computing," Dvorak will highlight new technologies, such as wireless networks, social networks and weblogs, and discuss ways to protect networks and information systems from potential threats posed by spam, worms, viruses and hackers.
In a general-session speech on Sunday, Marne E. Gordan, director of regulatory affairs for TruSecure Corp., will offer insights and real-world examples on information security breaches. Her presentation, "Now What Do I Do? Dealing with Simple Security Mistakes and Their (Sometimes Costly!) Aftermath," will focus on safeguarding customers' nonpublic personal information and suggest effective containment strategies.
A panel discussion — "Insurance Technologies: Treasures or Trash" — featuring experts from technology vendors and consultants, will speculate about hot technologies on the horizon. The panelists include William N. Pieroni, general manager, IBM Global Insurance Industry; Chuck Johnston,director–industry marketing, Callidus Software; D. Michael O'Connor, vice president property/casualty service operations innovations, The Hartford; Judy Johnson, vice president insurance, Sapiens; and James Bisker, senior analyst–insurance, TowerGroup. Ara Trembly, senior editor, technology, National Underwriter, is the panel's moderator.
Workshops and Showcases
The three-day conference brings together a broad array of technology and business topics for professionals in a variety of disciplines. The conference features 30 workshops on technology application issues and business solutions addressed by more than 50 speakers, covering topics such as claims modeling for terrorism, improving claims performance with new technology and business processes, wireless technology, data warehousing, business intelligence for property and casualty insurers, web services, electronic commerce, and insurance systems integration.
In addition, 18 technology showcases will feature the latest technology products and services from leading vendors.
