DENVER, May 24, 2004, 2004 — The Amerisure Companies have selected solutions from Taliant Software and Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) to accelerate deployment of Amerisure's commercial lines offerings on a new software platform, the two vendors announced.
Powered by technology from the AscendantOne unit of ISO, the ISO Rating ServiceTM will be integrated with Taliant's PowerComp® Policy software to support all ISO-based commercial insurance lines offered by Amerisure. The ISO Rating Service, which incorporates ISO's rating information with powerful rating software and a robust rate-management toolset, will provide Amerisure with rating information and automated, ongoing rate maintenance and analysis for six ISO commercial lines in 50 states. Taliant Software's PowerComp Policy system is strategic to Amerisure's technology direction and has been used to support workers compensation — its primary line of business — since July 2002.
Taliant Software and Amerisure jointly selected the ISO Rating Service following extensive review of the ISO product relative to other rating alternatives. "The decision to interface with the ISO Rating Service is important because it allows Amerisure to deploy ISO-based programs rapidly through the PowerComp Policy system and efficiently support rating changes going forward," said Jim Haley, Taliant Software chief marketing officer.
"The ISO Rating Service provides a robust technology solution for Amerisure's commercial lines of business," said Kevin B. Thompson, ISO senior vice president of Insurance Services. "Together with Taliant, we can provide Amerisure the best-of-breed solution for a competitive edge in their chosen market space."
The Amerisure Companies chose the ISO Rating Service because of its superior business and technology capabilities for delivering up-to-date rating information — advisory prospective loss costs, rating manual rules and policy forms information — and delivering the information by integrating it with Taliant's software. "This solution gives us a significant competitive edge by giving us confidence that the underlying data we use to quote and bind new policies is current and accurate and that Amerisure's policies will comply with state regulations," said Frank L. Petersmark, vice president of Information Technology at Amerisure.
James Thomson, vice president of Product Development & Delivery for Taliant Software, said, "From a technology perspective, integration with the ISO Rating Service, which will operate as a black box, does not present any difficulties. Our clients are accustomed to the flexible and rich user interface in PowerComp Policy, and they will not see any differences."
