Providers, Health Plans and Employers Discuss Business Cases for Predictive Modeling
BOSTON, Mass., Nov. 10, 2005 — DxCG®, Inc., the leading provider of predictive modeling software for health care organizations, held its 2005 User Conference at the Seaport Hotel in Boston from October 31 through November 2. More than 160 people from 60 health care organizations worldwide attended the conference, which included several case studies highlighting how predictive modeling is improving the organization and delivery of health care.
"Feedback from this year's meeting has been extraordinary," said Marilyn Schlein Kramer, president of DxCG. "The number of organizations attending nearly doubled from last year. Moreover, we were successful in our goal of creating an open forum among providers, health plans and employers about using predictive modeling to promote fair and efficient health care."
"The 2005 DxCG User Conference was one of the best conferences I have attended," said Michael Mellethin, vice president of finance and risk adjustment at Benu.
Many DxCG customers presented on their use of DxCG's predictive modeling technology and the results they have achieved in cost savings and improved quality of care. Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., described how Capital Health Plan of Tallahassee, Florida, uses predictive models to identify patients to participate in its innovative chronic care management program. Diane Downs, health care manager at General Motors, described GM's use of predictive models in evaluating more than 150 health plans. Representatives from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services discussed use of predictive models for risk adjustment in several Medicare programs, including the Chronic Care Improvement Program.
Attendees also learned how to use DxCG models to identify opportunities for case management from Anju Joglekar, DxCG senior research associate, and Scott Pechman from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
William Marshall, associate medical director of OSF Healthcare, summarized the event: "I really enjoyed the conference and learned a great deal from all the conference presenters."
