Joseph Brandon, General Re Chairman, President and CEO, Elected to ISO Board of Directors

JERSEY CITY, NJ, June 19, 2002 — Joseph P. Brandon, chairman, president and chief executive officer of General Re Corporation, was today elected to the board of directors of Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO). Brandon succeeds Ronald E. Ferguson as an ISO director.

ISO's board today also re-elected Christopher M. Foskett, managing director of Citibank, N. A., Fred R. Marcon, and David B. Wright, chairman and chief executive officer of Legato Systems, Inc., to three-year terms as directors. Brandon was named General Re's chief executive officer on October 1, 2001, and was appointed chairman on June 1, 2002.

Before becoming CEO, Brandon was responsible for leading General Re's North American reinsurance and insurance operations, including General Reinsurance Corporation, General Star, Genesis and GeneralCologne Life Re. He served as vice chairman and chief executive officer of General Reinsurance Corporation.

He also had responsibility for General Re's Global Casualty Facultative, Global Property Facultative, and General Re - New England Asset Management businesses. In addition, Brandon oversaw the Company's finance and legal areas.

Brandon joined General Re in 1989 as a treaty account executive. Beginning in 1991, he served as General Re's chief financial officer for more than nine years. A certified public accountant, Brandon graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with a B. S. degree in economics.
