NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 1996 — Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) is offering a temporary endorsement for its homeowners program to make it easier for policyholders to rent space in their homes to the thousands of athletes, workers and spectators attending the 1996 summer Olympic games and the Paralympic games for athletes with physical disabilities.
The optional Extended Residence Rental Theft Endorsement covers theft that might occur when a policyholder occasionally rents space in a part of his home or apartment he usually occupies. The endorsement insures against theft of the policyholder's property from the rented space. Such coverage is not included in ISO's standard homeowners policy forms.
The optional endorsement — to be effective from May 1 through October 31 — is being filed for regulatory approval in Georgia, Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee — areas that will host activities connected with the games.
The endorsement is expected to be offered by insurers for a small additional premium.
ISO is a nonprofit corporation that provides statistical information, actuarial analyses, insurance policy forms and a variety of related services to U.S. property/casualty insurers.
