JERSEY CITY, N.J., October 30, 2007 — ISO’s authoritative guide to state insurance laws and regulations, the State Filing Handbook, is now available for workers' compensation.
The State Filing Handbook for Workers' Compensation is a complete online source of information about filing laws, regulations, and procedures for workers' compensation — one of the most complex and heavily regulated lines of insurance. ISO’s new State Filing Handbook for Workers' Compensation provides insurers with a fast, convenient source of compliance details on filing rates, rules, and forms for all jurisdictions.
For each jurisdiction, the online handbook provides:
- a summary of filing laws and regulations, complete with statutory and regulatory references
- details of special filing requirements, with statutory and regulatory references
- links to Microsoft Word and Excel versions of filing forms and speed-to-market checklists to fill out online, print, and submit
- automated calculations for forms that require them and the State Filing Forms Auto-Fill feature to complete common fields
- links to the text of state regulations and bulletins on filing activities
- procedures for adopting or modifying advisory organization filings as the basis for your own rates, rules, and forms
- information on where to file and a list of state insurance department personnel, including phone and fax numbers, as well as e-mail addresses and links to department websites
To get an overview of the requirements, insurers can browse each jurisdiction through the web interface. Or they can search by type of filing to get just the information they need for a particular filing. The State Filing Handbook for Workers' Compensation includes a powerful keyword search for each state section — or for the whole handbook. The search includes regulations, bulletins, and forms, so insurers can find the exact topic or section they need in seconds.
“For 25 years, insurers have relied on ISO’s State Filing Handbook for information on filing laws, regulations, and procedures for most property/casualty lines,” says Kevin B. Thompson, ISO’s senior vice president – Insurance Services. “Now, for the first time, ISO is making that information available for workers' compensation.”
“The State Filing Handbook for Workers' Compensation provides complete information on filing rates, rules, and forms for all jurisdictions where private insurers write the line,” said Thompson. “For jurisdictions with monopolistic state workers' compensation insurance funds, the handbook provides contact information for the funds.”
“With ISO’s flexible subscriptions, customers can order information for just the states where they write workers' compensation business — or get the big picture for the whole country,” added Thompson.
The State Filing Handbook for Workers' Compensation also provides flexible multistate reports that cover a wide variety of filing topics. Insurers can choose a topic, a type of filing, and individual states — or select all states. The handbook generates a convenient, customized table that summarizes the requirements for the states they’re interested in.
The handbook is available through ISOnet, ISO’s secure Internet platform for delivering information to property/casualty insurers.
