NEW YORK, May 23, 2000 — Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO®) is delivering the flexibility and cost savings of online education to insurance professionals with a new Internet-based Comprehensive Technical Achievement Program on classifying and rating risks.
The program is a cost-effective way for field and inside premium auditors, audit reviewers, agents, customer service representatives, underwriters and risk assessment managers to sharpen their skills.
The Technical Achievement Program was developed by ISO's Premium Audit Advisory Service (PAASTM), a provider of workers compensation and general liability classification information and training since 1978. Companies representing more than 95 percent of the property and casualty industry's workers compensation premium benefit from PAAS's Classification Guides, Education Bulletins, seminars and technical consultations.
Trainees can access the course 24 hours a day, download the PAAS training manual for each subject, and take practice exams as well as the final exam via the Internet. The Technical Achievement Program allows employers to control costs and supervise training while letting trainees study at their own pace and take exams from anywhere. After completing the program's three courses, the trainee will earn a comprehensive technical achievement certificate recognized by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.
"PAAS's online materials distill workers compensation, general liability, and commercial auto policy and procedural issues to a very understandable level," said Richard P. Boehning, senior vice president. "PAAS's online courses can improve the work performance of premium audit professionals and underwriters by teaching them how to accurately classify risks and recognize additional exposures."
The Workers Compensation course covers classification procedures, development of the basis of premium, classification of executive officers, development of the proper exposure and classifications for subcontractors, and additional factors affecting coverages and classifications.
The General Liability (GL) course covers legal liability and liability insurance, including the development of the basis of GL premium and classification procedures for general liability manufacturing and processing risks, mercantile risks, contracting and servicing risks, building and premises, and miscellaneous risks.
The Commercial Automobile course covers the business auto coverage form and public autos, classification techniques for non-owned and hired automobiles, truckers' and motor carriers' coverage forms, and garage coverage forms.
