ISO's A-PLUS Claims History Database Gets National Distribution Through iiX's Customer Base of 15,000 Agents
COLLEGE STATION, TX, August 3, 1998 — Agents are now able to access the Automated Property Loss Underwriting System (A-PLUS) claims information database through Insurance Information Exchange's (iiX) electronic delivery system, under an alliance with Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) announced today.
The alliance provides ISO's American Insurance Services Group (AISG) unit a national vendor to deliver its A-PLUS reports at the point of sale, and iiX to offer additional underwriting services to its 15,000 agent customers.
"We're excited about this new alliance and are certain it's a good move for all parties involved," said Robbie Sells, vice president of underwriting services for iiX." We've been in the software development and underwriting reports business for more than 15 years, so we know that point-of-sale delivery of timely information is critical for agents to effectively serve their customers and insurers. A-PLUS allows agents access to the nation's largest database of claims history."
A-PLUS is the largest property and liability claims database designed for personal and commercial lines underwriters. More than 950 companies, representing more than 83 percent of the industry, contribute claims data to the A-PLUS database.
Agents approved by an A-PLUS contributing company will have access to this information. With A-PLUS, users can independently evaluate the potential underwriting profitability of business and personal risks and risk locations. The A-PLUS report provides five years of property claims information on all losses from all perils at all dollar thresholds.
"To continue expanding A-PLUS into the insurance marketplace, we needed to get A-PLUS to agents at the point of sale," said Steven Craig, general manager for A-PLUS. "We searched for a relationship with a national provider in the agent marketplace that has a substantial and growing customer base. The timing was right, iiX was ready, and agents now can assess risks at the point of sale in a timely way by using the A-PLUS claims history database, the largest and most complete in the industry."
