NEW YORK, Jan. 14, 1997 — Dennis H. Chookaszian, chairman and chief executive officer of CNA Insurance Cos., has been elected to the board of directors of Insurance Services Office, Inc.
Chookaszian's election was announced today at ISO's Meeting of Participating Insurers. ISO's board elected Chookaszian to fill the unexpired term of Gerald A. Isom, president of CIGNA Property Casualty Cos.
Chookaszian became chairman and chief executive officer of CNA Insurance Cos. in 1992 after serving as president and chief operating officer from 1990 to 1992. Previously, he was chief financial officer of CNA Financial Corp. and CNA Insurance Cos. from 1975 to 1990. He also served as chairman of Agency Management Services, Inc. (AMS), a subsidiary of CNA, and director of General Finance Corporation, CNA Financials consumer-finance subsidiary.
Before joining CNA in 1975, Chookaszian was with Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte & Touche) Management Consulting Services, where he was responsible for management, financial and systems consulting practices.
He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, a master's degree in finance from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in finance from the London School of Economics.
Under ISO's charter, three insurance-company executives are elected to ISO's board by ISO's Class B shareholders, which are insurers or reinsurers.
Class A shareholders — ISO's Employee Stock Ownership Plan and management— elect seven directors. ISO's chief executive officer serves as chairman. Vacancies are filled by the board of directors.
