COLUMBIA, S. C., April 8, 2002 — The Automobile Club of Southern California has licensed Claims Outcome AdvisorTM (COATM), an injury claims-management solution from ISO Claims Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), to manage its personal injury claims business, identify market trends and provide service throughout the claims life cycle.
The industry's first object-based solution to enable the complete management of bodily injury claims portfolios, COA helps claims adjusters, managers and actuaries manage the unique and complex medical, legal and occupational issues presented by bodily injury and workers compensation claims and helps ensure fair and equitable settlements. Claims adjusters can manage all aspects of a case from first notice of loss to return-to-work plans, rehabilitation and general damages.
Selected by the Automobile Club following an extensive review of the marketplace, COA will roll out to more than 300 claims adjusters and management staff in Southern California to help them manage the auto insurer's bodily injury claims portfolios. COA will help claims staff identify opportunities for early settlement, in order to provide equitable general-damage assessments on each case.
"Implementing ISO Claims Outcome Advisor was a priority for 2002," said Cortland Ray, claims vice president for the Automobile Club. "This software represents another major step in improving our ability to provide the best possible service to our members and insurance customers. COA's advanced management tools will provide us with new information and a greater understanding of our claims portfolios. Our claims adjusters will be able to manage individual claims far more effectively throughout the claims life cycle and ensure the best outcome for all parties."
In addition, each Automobile Club business unit will be able to analyze performance and service levels and spot trends in the marketplace to actively manage its own personal-injury claims portfolio.
"The Automobile Club's goal is to continually improve claims portfolio management across multiple business units," said Lee Fogle, vice president of ISO. "COA is the only solution available today that enables them to do this, through an understanding of the severity and the recovery implications of more than 20,000 medical conditions, including injuries, treatments, complications and pre-existing conditions, and 14,000 occupations."
Headquartered in Los Angeles, the Automobile Club of Southern California offers automobile, homeowners, watercraft and life insurance to its 6 million members.
