3E Online Safety Card Module Recognized in HazMat Safety Category for Increasing Accuracy and Validity of Safety Cards
Carlsbad, Calif., October 9, 2013 — 3E Company, a leading provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, today announced that the Safety Card module of its 3E Online®-SDS Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management platform has won a 2013 New Product of the Year Award from Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) magazine. This is the fourth consecutive year that 3E Company has won a New Product of the Year Award.
3E’s Safety Card module was recognized for enabling the quick and easy creation of safety cards, which inform employees of the risks involved with product usage, level of protection required, and emergency procedures. Safety cards are used around the world to simplify and localize a product’s safety profile to increase workplace safety and mitigate risk. The 3E Online Safety Card module automates the development process by generating cards with standardized pictograms, color-coded templates, and information from product SDSs.
“We are delighted to win a New Product of the Year Award from OH&S,” said Robert S. Christie, CEO and president, 3E Company. “Today’s global enterprise requires heightened focus on workplace safety, as sweeping regulatory initiatives such as the United States’ Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) and Canada’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) continue to demand quick access to accurate SDSs, safety cards, and transparent product data. We created our Safety Card module to address this increasing need while also facilitating global compliance and mitigating risk by expanding access to accurate safety data.”
The Occupational Health & Safety New Product of the Year Award is now in its fifth year. The award program honors the outstanding product development achievements of health and safety manufacturers whose products are considered particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve workplace safety. This year’s contest attracted a record 71 products in 22 award categories, with an independent panel of three highly qualified judges choosing the winners.
“An accurate and up-to-date safety card can be very effective in increasing workplace safety and mitigating risk,” said Jerry Laws, editor, OH&S magazine. “We applaud 3E for developing a useful and innovative tool to increase the accuracy and validity of these important documents and for its continued dedication to creating safer workplaces and facilitating environmental regulatory compliance.”
The winners were presented with awards at the 2013 National Safety Council Congress and Expo. They are also featured on Occupational Health & Safety’s industry-leading website, www.ohsonline.com.
