Latest Version of ADM-VMSDS Also Features NFPA, HMIS, and SARA Classification Data to Further Empower Global Product Stewardship and Compliance Management
Carlsbad, CA, September 1, 2011 — Carlsbad, CA, September 1, 2011 — 3E Company, a leading provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, today announced new capabilities for its Ariel Data ManagerTM (ADM)-VMSDS data management solution. The new functionality facilitates compliance with the classification and labeling requirements mandated by the United Nations’ (UN) Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), as well as with the reporting requirements set forth by North America’s National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Hazardous Material Identification System (HMIS), and the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). The enhancements help companies fulfill global regulatory obligations while also managing their product stewardship and workplace safety related Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) data requirements.
ADM-VMSDS helps SAP® EHS Management (SAP EHSM) users manage their vendors’ global inbound Material Safety Data Sheets (VMSDSs) within the SAP EHSM platform. By combining MSDS content, including both data and documents, with a loading tool for importing data into SAP EHSM, ADM-VMSDS dramatically reduces the amount of time required to manage inbound vendor raw-material MSDS documents and data in SAP EHSM. Additionally, when combined with the 3E Online-MSDS management system for hazard communications, the solution set provides employees with easy to use online access to the same MSDSs as those in the SAP EHSM system.
The latest version of ADM-VMSDS offers users access to key physical-chemical properties, compositions, and regulatory data, including GHS classification and labeling data, and NFPA, HMIS, and SARA classification data. Because ADM-VMSDS integrates seamlessly with the SAP EHSM platform, the new data is imported directly into the Standard Properties Tree, eliminating cumbersome manual processes to collect and upload the data into SAP EHSM. Once in SAP EHSM, the data can be leveraged to run mixture classification rules, as well as other product compliance checks and reports. In addition, users can upload product compositions to support compliance activities related to Substance Volume Tracking (SVT), such as those required by Europe’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
ADM-VMSDS also enables users to perform bulk updates directly into SAP EHSM, and provides an option to store a full MSDS in SAP EHSM or, if preferred, a link to 3E Online-MSDS. ADM-VMSDS supports more than 30 European and Asia Pacific languages, and the MSDS phrases may be managed in English only or in other supported languages.
The enhanced solution also includes innovative change management features that enable users to quickly determine what has changed on their MSDSs, and track the impact of any changes on their business. Key data points — such as GHS/CLP classification and labeling data, product identification, revision date, composition, and impact on regulatory lists — are regularly cross-referenced to ensure that users are using the most recent version of the MSDSs.
“With the introduction of these new classification features, users will achieve enhanced compliance with existing and emerging regulatory obligations, in addition to significant time savings,” said Julia Tsvetkova, senior product manager, 3E Company. “We are proud to offer the most comprehensive solution available that encompasses obtainment, tracking, access, and enterprise system integration of both regulatory and vendor MSDS content in SAP EHSM.”
ADM-VMSDS is available immediately.
