3E Online®-MSDS 6.0 Enables More Efficient Management of Hazard Communication Documentation with Expanded GHS Features and Streamlined Access to More Than 4.5 Million SDSs
Carlsbad, Calif., June 21, 2012 — 3E Company, a leading provider of EH&S compliance and information management services, today announced the availability of 3E Online-MSDS 6.0, an enhanced version of its Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management application. The latest edition includes new features designed to streamline the development of compliant and accurate hazard communication documentation, including access to a Waste Classification module as well as enhanced inventory management.
In addition, 3E Online-MSDS 6.0 features enhanced functionality to help conform to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) 2012, which now aligns with the United Nations’ (UN) Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The platform’s existing GHS capabilities will support access to updated GHS compliant SDSs as they become available. The latest version continues to offer proactive revision maintenance so that changes to SDSs are consistently and reliably processed and indexed, ensuring the most recent document is referenced.
New modules and features for 3E Online-MSDS 6.0 include:
New Inventory Management Enhancements
All users now have full access to 3E’s vast library of more than 4.5 million SDSs, and can quickly add SDSs to their catalogs with a few clicks. In addition, users can independently access prior versions of SDSs and their associated metadata for any product in their inventory. Once the product is no longer in use, the SDS and the associated data can be archived to comply with OSHA’s 30-year retention requirement. The inventory history feature will track archived SDSs. This new feature allows users to view if a product has been in a selected inventory location for a specified time frame. The additional functionality enables EH&S and legal staff to research and analyze employee exposures or on-site incidents.
Waste Classification Module
For users who have purchased 3E’s Waste Classification Service, the new Waste Classification module in 3E Online-MSDS enables quick reference of product waste classification codes. 3E’s experienced HazMat Response Team can classify any or all of the products in an inventory. When the time comes to dispose of the product, users can quickly access classification data online, which simplifies the process and takes the guesswork out of identifying and classifying hazardous waste. The new module includes waste label templates for streamlined labeling of hazardous waste. In addition, information can be exported as a report and accessed via a smartphone by using 3E Mobile-MSDS.
“3E Online-MSDS 6.0 brings robust new capabilities that fulfill the most complex compliance and classification requirements facing our customers,” said Tamie Webber, director, Product Management, 3E Company. “The introduction of our new Waste Classification module allows our customers to further extend their systems for extended lifecycle product regulatory data coverage. This module is a valuable addition to the 3E Online family, as it streamlines the meticulous process of determining the appropriate Federal and State-specific waste codes and customer specific waste codes and guidance.”
3E Online-MSDS 6.0 is available immediately.
