3E Online®-SDS 7.0 Brings Strengthened Security Features and Enhanced Safety Card Module for Strategic Regulatory Compliance Management across the Global Enterprise
Carlsbad, Calif., June 13, 2013 — 3E Company, a leading provider of EH&S compliance and information management services, today announced the availability of 3E Online-SDS 7.0, an enhanced version of its safety data sheet (SDS) management application. The latest edition has been enriched with new capabilities aimed at facilitating compliance for today’s global enterprise, including enhancements for the management of multilingual SDSs and streamlined conformance with regulations such as Europe’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework.
New features for 3E Online-SDS 7.0 include:
Globalization Enhancements
3E Online-SDS 7.0 brings expanded multilingual capabilities, including the ability to switch the interface language post-login as well as pre-login. Users can translate custom value titles for companies to localize nomenclature on a country-specific basis.
Exposure Scenario and eSDS Enhancements for REACH
The new version features enhancements aimed at streamlining extended safety data sheet (eSDS) management by flagging products to inform users if an exposure scenario is attached to the SDS. It also features a new report, run per location, that lists which products have an eSDS and when that document was added to 3E Online to help track obligation timelines. In addition to these two enhancements, the Revision Alert module has been expanded to alert subscribers when 3E has obtained an eSDS for a product, as well as when the eSDS has been revised.
Safety Card Module Enhancements
Safety cards are used around the world to simplify and localize a product’s safety profile to increase workplace safety and mitigate risk. The 3E Online optional Safety Card module generates cards using standardized pictograms, color-coded templates, and information from product SDSs. The newest version allows users to translate the template into five additional languages: Spanish, Polish, Thai, Chinese, and Portuguese. It also features a new report to track safety cards created per product, and per location, along with the expiration date for each card.
Site-Specific SDS Update Information
3E Online-SDS 7.0 feeds SDS update information into 3E Online per location, detailing the SDS update status of each document (e.g., complete, in progress, SDS not required, out of business, etc.) and the last date 3E had contact with the supplier. This report can be used during on-site inspections to demonstrate due diligence.
Enhanced Security Features
3E Online-SDS 7.0 includes new password security features, such as password reset and stricter password requirements, for an additional layer of security protection and better user management.
“Today’s global enterprise demands heightened focus on product stewardship and workplace safety, as sweeping regulatory initiatives such as REACH continue to demand quick access to accurate SDSs, eSDSs, and transparent product data. This can be achieved only by tracking and managing chemical inventories across international operations,” said Louise Bernstein, product manager, 3E Company. “We designed 3E Online-SDS 7.0 to facilitate such global compliance and risk mitigation, companywide, through the localization of tools and access to multilingual product-level SDS data.”
3E Online-SDS 7.0 is available immediately.
