Verisk Financial | Argus’ senior manager of spend informed analytics shares how she’s using data to better understand consumer behavior, the importance of mentorship programs, and more.

What’s the coolest project you’re working on right now, and why?

I’m primarily involved in Retail and Consumer Insights products. It’s fascinating to see, especially in this pandemic, how external factors have affected consumer shopping behaviors in the U.S. and how quickly a market can change. Deriving insights from data and seeing how businesses are making decisions based on that data is very rewarding.  

What has been your experience with mentors and mentorship?

My supervisors have always been the most amazing mentors, and I’ll always be grateful to them. Their experience in a professional environment gave me the exposure that I needed, given that this was my first and only job so far. I’m also a mentor as part of the Her Honor Mentoring program (Verisk is a sponsor), and I try to help in any way that I can to guide my mentee on their career journey. 

What will be the challenges facing the next generation of women leaders?

The next generation of women leaders will have more opportunities and role models to serve as inspiration. However, there is still a gender imbalance in tech. I think the main challenge is to encourage women interested in the field to pursue opportunities by being better mentors and creating more pathways for women to step into this space easily.
