CMS extends CRC transition to February 8, 2018

In October 2017, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the Commercial Repayment Center (CRC) contract to Performant Financial Corporation (Performant). The CRC is the contractor CMS utilizes to process conditional payment recoveries for non-group health (NGHP) claims where the primary payer is the debtor.

Pursuant to this award, Performant was to take over CRC responsibilities from the current contractor, CGI Federal, in January, 2018. However, we have received word that CMS is now extending this transition until February 8, 2018. This means that CGI Federal will maintain oversight of CRC operations until then. Pending cases not processed by CGI Federal by February 8, 2018 will then be handled by Performant.

As part of this transition, it is anticipated that CMS will hold a town hall call sometime prior to February 8th to cover related details and other applicable information. In addition, there will be new contact information, including mailing address, phone and facsimile, for Performant that has yet to be supplied, but which is expected to be released prior to February 8th

We are following this transition closely and will be sure to provide updates as warranted.
