CMS to hold NGHP Section 111 penalties webinar

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a “save the date” notice advising that CMS will be holding a Section 111 civil money penalties (CMP) webinar for non-group health plans (NGHPs) on January 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET. (CMS will hold a separate webinar for group health plans on January 17, 2024).

Please note that CMS has not yet provided the log-in information regarding this event and indicates that this information “will be posted in the coming weeks.”

CMS’s new “save the date” notice provides the following key information:

CMS states that this webinar “will cover information regarding the Certain Civil Money Penalties Final Rule and allow RREs to ask questions directly of CMS.”
CMS is also encouraging RREs to submit questions. On this point, CMS states: “RREs are encouraged to submit questions in advance of the webinars to the dedicated resource mailbox at Sec111CMP@cms.hhs.gov. Although an individualized response will not be received, CMS will utilize these emails to guide the webinar presentations and future outreach materials.”
Finally, as noted above, CMS will be posting further information – including log-in instructions – at a later date. CMS states: “Full detail regarding the webinars, including log-in information, will be posted in the coming weeks.”

Going forward, when CMS releases further information (including the log-in information), we will provide an update to this article with that information. Also, Verisk policy team members will attend the NGHP webinar on January 18^th and provide a summary following the event.
