The recent enactment of the Provide Accurate Information Directly (PAID) Act has placed the spotlight on an often-overlooked component of the Medicare program --- Medicare Part D (prescription drugs). Under the PAID Act, CMS is now providing insurers with key information regarding a claimant’s Part D enrollment status. With the PAID Act now – and with roughly 75% of all Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in a Part D program – it is critical that insurers understand how Part D works and impact claims, including Part D secondary payer recovery issues.
