On February 2, 2018, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) issued its latest update regarding the Commercial Repayment Center (CRC) transition from CGI Federal to Performant Financial Corporation (Performant). A copy of CMS’ new notice can be obtained here. As reported in our recent post, there will be a CRC transition “cutover” from February 7-9 prior to Performant assuming full CRC operations on February 12, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. EST.
In this new alert, CMS announced the following additional information:
- CMS will temporarily halt recovery activities for both Group Health Plan and Non-Group Health Plan cases at the close of business on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
- All recovery activities will then resume on Monday, February 12, 2018 with the new CRC contractor, Performant Recovery.
In addition, CMS reiterated its prior advisements on other transition aspects as follows:
- The CRC call center will still be available on February 7 and 8, 2018, to answer questions. However, customer service representatives will only have access to case information processed as of the close of business Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
- The Medicare Secondary Payment Recovery Portal (MSPRP) will remain available for CRC cases, but will be limited to inquiry functions and reflect case information processed as of close of business Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
