Quantifying Impacts of Climate Change: U.S. Corn Yields

Effects of observed past and projected future climate change on corn yields

This white paper discusses a research study Verisk conducted in collaboration with the Brookings Institution and AXIS Capital Holdings to explore how climate change may affect U.S. agriculture risk. To better understand and quantify the potential magnitude of climate change impacts on crops, an AIR process-based Crop Growth and Yield Model was used to simulate effects of observed past and projected future climate changes on corn (maize) yield at high resolution throughout the U.S. Corn Belt.
