ISO multistate filings can be voluminous documents packed with significant updates to our forms, rules, and loss costs. It can take insurers a fair amount of time to incorporate these updates into their operations. To give our customers more lead time to implement ISO policy program changes, we’re now announcing our multistate filings several months earlier in the filing lifecycle.
The precise amount of extra lead time will vary, but in some cases, it may give insurers several months’ worth of additional time to review and implement changes.
Working faster with Verisk
When ISO announces the implementation of a multistate filing, it can trigger a number of internal processes at an insurance company, from IT systems updates to training. These processes can take months to execute. Just as large planes require long runaways to generate the lift required for takeoff, insurers typically need ample time to properly incorporate the often substantial changes in a multistate update.
While we’ve historically announced the submission of filings a year or more before they become effective, many customers told us that they don’t begin their implementation processes until the first announcement circular is published about six months later.
With our new announcement cadence, insurers have additional runway to review the program updates, plan technology changes to their internal systems, and roll out product updates to their agents and customers. Further, this additional lead time may eliminate the need for insurers to push out the effectives dates of filings to accommodate this prep work.
This change to ISO filings announcements is effective immediately and applies across all the lines of business we serve.
ISO filing info in one place
In addition to accelerating our filings implementation announcement, we’ve also created a new Filings feature in circulars that centralizes all forms filing content within a single location. This feature helps you better manage the flow of information and stay on top of filings. You can use Filings to search for and view a form's filing information in one place, follow the progress of form filing over time, and help easily access documents related to the filing.
