On Thursday December 7, 2023, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released an alert announcing that in January 2024 a new enhancement will be made to the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP).
In its new alert, CMS notes, in main part, that “[i]n January, a new enhancement will allow MSPRP users to submit additional correspondence types for cases including additional redetermination documentation, exhaust letters, insurance documentation and status inquiries. This will help decrease the amount of paper correspondence that a user needs to submit and will allow for more efficient processing of that correspondence. Full details regarding this change will be made available in the January 2024 version of the MSPRP User Guide.”
Once the updated MSPRP User Guide is released, we will provide an article with a summary of the updates, along with their potential impact on Medicare conditional payment handling.
In the interim, please do not hesitate to contact the author with any questions.
