When the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) launches its Dynamic General Insurance Stress Test (DyGIST) in May 2026, insurers that can quickly interpret emerging scenarios, run portfolio analyses, and extract meaningful loss insights will hold a clear advantage. Success will depend not just on modelling capability but also speed, flexibility, and access to timely, decision-ready information.

Reactive to ready
Verisk’s Catastrophe and Risk Solutions is adapting its stress-testing support to align with this year’s emphasis on real-time agility over static preparation. We’re ready to help carriers deliver faster, more informed responses amid the elevated uncertainty in this new, adaptive exercise. Verisk has engaged actively with the PRA as scenarios unfold and is aligning our support model to help clients meet this challenge quickly as new information emerges.
As DyGIST reveals regions and perils dynamically from May 5 to May 27, 2026, Verisk will keep a dedicated DyGIST team in place throughout the exercise to promptly supply the expertise and outputs clients need. UK clients will also receive timely updates through ALERT, helping them stay aligned with key developments as they happen.
Relevant, timely insights
In response to which region and peril combinations are in scope by the PRA, Verisk will provide Similar Stochastic Events (SSEs) and other relevant data sets across both natural and non-natural catastrophe models, including areas such as US terrorism; US strikes, riots, and civil commotion; and casualty risk.
More critically, Verisk will share updates on expected delivery timelines twice weekly during the exercise, providing greater visibility to help insurers plan their response workflows more effectively.
Preparation as a differentiator
While DyGIST is designed to measure responsiveness in ways that traditional stress-testing frameworks do not, preparation remains critical. Insurers that have pre-run their latest portfolios will be better positioned to rapidly extract and interpret losses under emerging scenarios.
Operational readiness enables faster turnaround, stronger internal communication, and more confident regulatory engagement.
A more dynamic stress-testing landscape
DyGIST represents a significant shift in regulatory stress testing for insurers. Over the next month, understanding the changing scenarios and responding confidently will be critical. We’re ready to help clients navigate that complexity with timely insights, relevant data, and informed decision support.
