We are living through a period of significant change. Since our last newsletter we have been through a record heatwave in Europe, devastating floods in several countries, seen record energy prices with wider economic impacts, and now have a new Monarch and Prime Minister in UK.
While we are always focussed on continuously improving our products and services, significant change, which can be disruptive, also opens new opportunities. We are seeing increased use of our data in long term energy and sustainability planning for example for ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) analyses. Our insights also support property valuation and modelling at a national scale.
You can learn more below about updates to our products coming at the end of September, our CyberEssentials certification, forthcoming events where you can meet the Verisk 3DVI team, and information about a new geospatial solution from our sister company Verisk Maplecroft
Updates and enhancements to 3DVI’s land and property insights
We are preparing new editions of our products for release at the end of September which include data updates to UKMap, UKBuildings and UKLand. These will be dispatched to customers shortly.
The new editions include addition of new and updated data, and there is a specific enhancement to UKBuildings to a provide garden size attribute. The product already includes a site_area attribute indicating the area of land associated with a particular premise. The new attribute indicates the size of the site excluding buildings. This information is useful for valuation purposes, analysing the suitability of properties for new energy sources, ground source heat-pumps for example, and even for marketing.
3DVI retains Cyber Essentials certification
Cyber Essentials certification is an effective Government backed scheme that helps prove that an organization is protected against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks. We are pleased to have renewed our certification for another year.
Gaining this certification is a great way to reassure you, our customers, that we are taking the necessary precautions to protect against cyber attack.

Events
Association for Geographic Information (AGI) – GeoCymru 2022
Earlier on this month the team headed to Cardiff where we sponsored and attended the AGI Cymru annual Conference – GeoCymru 2022. The event, held at Sophia Gardens Cardiff, boasted an insightful programme of talks spearheaded by a keynote from Glyn Jones, the Chief Digital Officer at Welsh Government.
It was a great opportunity to meet once again with the Welsh geo community face-to-face. The event theme was how geographic data and analytics can support health and well-being in Wales, with a specific focus on ‘Outdoors’.
In his contribution, Tom Timms, Managing Director of 3DVI reflected on the work 3DVI undertook in response to COVID-19, helping to plan and implement social distancing measures using information derived from our data, and how health and well-being are strongly influenced by the buildings in which people live.
