CMS to hold Section 111 NGHP webinar on August 13th

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a notice announcing it will be holding a webinar for Section 111 non-group health plan (NGHP) reporting on August 13, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. ET.

In terms of planned subject matter, CMS’s notice only states the following:

Nghp Webinar Annoucement 07072020 (003)

The format will be opening remarks by CMS, followed by a presentation that will include NGHP reporting best practices and reminders. For questions regarding Section 111 reporting, please utilize the Section 111 Resource Mailbox

As will be noted, CMS’s notice does not provide much information regarding the topics and areas they plan to discuss on the webinar.

On this note, it will be interesting to see if the agency plans on discussing anything related to its Section 111 civil money penalties (CMP) proposals. As many will recall, CMS released its Section 111 CMP proposals in February of this year and opened a public commentary period that closed on April 20, 2020. Please see our recent article for further information on the current state of CMS’s Section 111 CMP proposals. Again, the author is not aware if CMS is planning on addressing its Section 111 CMPs, but this is one topic of likely high interest for Section 111 RREs.

As for other recent CMS Section 111 activity, the agency released a new Section 111 NGHP User Guide in June, which contained a reminder regarding the $750 low dollar reporting threshold, incorporated its recent alert addressing no-fault and med-pay reporting, and provided several other technical update changes.

If you are interested in attending CMS’s webinar, please see CMS’s notice for further details and webinar registration information.

ISO Claims Partners will be attending the webinar and will post a summary blog article following this event. In the interim, please do not hesitate to contact the author if you have any questions.
