Easing the Squeeze on London's Delegated Authority Market

 

The North American property business is placing strain on Lloyd’s underwriters, brokers, and coverholders. Syndicates are taking a more cautious approach when delegating authority, and there's a strong need to capitalise on digital tools and innovation to help write business as cost-effectively as possible. Daniel J Hearsum

Head of Placement
Marsh JLT Specialty UK

Dan Hearsum is head of placement for the specialty business in the UK. In this capacity, he has overall placement responsibility for London Market businesses with GWP in excess of USD 9bn across the Aviation, Bowring Marsh International Property & Casualty, Construction, Real Estate & Surety, Energy, Marine, Credit Specialty, Private Equity and M&A and FINPRO Practices. He also has overall responsibility for the facility strategy in these core businesses including the management of the Marsh Intuitive Quote & Bind Portal strategy.

He is a member of the Marsh Global Placement Executive and the UK Specialty Executive Committee.

He assumed this leadership position in June 2016, having previously led the Specialty Portfolio Solutions team.

Tim Rayner

Business Development Director
Sequel

Tim Rayner is business development director at Sequel, having spent 18 years on the broker side of the London Market at Miller. Tim has a strong technology background, with over 15 years’ experience as a software developer, before moving on to head up IT, Change and then Group Operations at Miller.

At Sequel, Tim has board-level responsibility for Sequel’s relationship with Lloyd’s, the LM TOM and large strategic accounts. Looking forward, Tim will play an instrumental part in Sequel’s global expansion and brings a wealth of experience particularly in the coverholder space, having architected London’s first real-time bordereau data exchange back in 2007.
