NMVTIS Final Rule Data Requirements

The table below shows the fields of data required by NMVTIS for reporting total loss claims, effective March 31, 2009, and the fields in Universal Format corresponding to those data points. If you provide the fields of data in your vehicle total loss reports, ISO can report the required information to NMVTIS on your behalf.

NMVTIS-REQUIRED FIELDS FOR REPORTING VEHICLE TOTAL LOSS CLAIMS*

ISO CLAIMSEARCH UNIVERSAL FORMAT MATCHING DATA FIELDS

1. Vehicle Identification Number of the total-loss automobile

1. VIN (a required field in Universal Format)

2. The date on which the automobile was designated as
total loss

2. Date of loss or payment (date claim closed)

3. The name of the individual or entity from whom the automobile was obtained (owner name or lien-holder name and who possessed the automobile when it was designated a junk or salvage automobile)

3. Insured, owner, or lien holder (loss payee field)

4. The name of the owner of the automobile at the time of the filing of the report with NMVTIS (either the insurance company or the owner, if owner retained)

4. Insurance company name and insured, claimant, or other owner fields.
