Being the CEO of Your Own Career

Jill Pineiro, Vice President and Head of Talent Acquisition

What's your role at Verisk?

I’m the global head of talent acquisition, responsible for leading the team that hires new talent into the company. Our talent scope spans from summer interns to the executive level.

I lead a team of recruiters, sourcers, and coordinators across the globe. Our focus is to ensure both hiring managers and candidates have an exceptional experience.

We strive to be strategic talent advisors, offering meaningful and data-driven talent insights and ideas to our businesses. As my team introduces highly skilled, diverse talent to the enterprise, this directly impacts our most important asset—our people.

We’re culture carriers and we get to coach and guide candidates in their careers. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the talent you’ve brought into the firm succeed and grow in their careers over their tenure at Verisk!

It’s equally rewarding to see internal candidates change roles and take advantage of other Verisk opportunities too. With the various types of roles we have at the company, there are numerous positions and career paths available to you when you join the Verisk family.

What initially attracted you to Verisk and the role you're in today?

What attracted me to Verisk was the opportunity to help drive transformation within our People Leadership & Culture division and leverage my diverse background in HR.

Verisk’s leadership, focus on employee engagement, and strong commitment to corporate social responsibility are all traits that were important to me when looking for a new organization to work with.

I love to drive change, lead high-performing teams, enhance processes, and help take organizations to the next level. It’s a privilege to be part of a dynamic and successful company like Verisk.

Asian Network Minda Dentler

As one of our eight Employee Networks, the Verisk Asian Network promotes and builds our diverse Asian community to bring many perspectives to work, provide forums to network, and encourage a platform to succeed.

How did you begin your career in talent acquisition?

My first job out of college was as an internal auditor at one of the largest global financial services institutions. I did that for three years and it was a fantastic way to learn about all aspects of financial services; it taught me how to listen and ask the right questions.

I was then presented with an internal mobility opportunity to move out of audit and into my first role in HR. I spent most of my HR career leading a variety of areas including learning and development, training, recruiting, and diversity.

I’ve spent almost three decades leading various HR functions across financial services, fintech, and now Verisk. I enjoy helping individuals grow and develop their careers!

How would you describe a good day?

My day starts by checking in with my international team, followed by a series of meetings with business leaders and colleagues. Meeting topics range from diversity sourcing initiatives, process improvement opportunities, or simply a virtual coffee chat with my team. A good day for me is filled with collaborating, ideating, and strategizing with my colleagues.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that the work we do in talent acquisition is measurable and meaningful. I enjoy having a real impact on people’s careers, starting from college hires to C-suite executives. Coaching my team and working with a talented group of leaders and colleagues makes my role fulfilling!

What does Verisk look for in a candidate?

A great candidate is data-oriented, adaptable, resilient, and a team player. We look for people who are empathetic and have strong emotional intelligence.
