DOR has informed carriers they are running into problems in attempting to verify NAIC numbers when a motorist contacts them for assistance. These problems include:
- Customer doesn’t know or cannot locate the NAIC number
- The NAIC number isn’t listed on the insurance card.
- NAIC number is listed on the policy but it is labeled “Customer Number,” causing confusion
- NAIC number is on the policy but it trails the policy number and isn’t easily identifiable.
In order to alleviate this issue, the state has asked carriers to begin including the NAIC number on insurance cards and making it easily identifiable to the customer on the policy documentation.
