Rhode Island Automobile Insurance Plan (RIAIP) to report assigned risk

Rhode Island has confirmed that, effective immediately, the Rhode Island Automobile Insurance Plan (RIAIP) will be responsible for reporting all assigned-risk automobile insurance policies directly to the Rhode Island Insurance Verification System (RIIVS).

Initially, the state had placed this responsibility with insurers that participate in the program.

Now, insurers don’t need to change their programming or internal processes to integrate their assigned-risk business into their data feed to Verisk.

All insurers that write automobile insurance in the state of Rhode Island are required to participate in the RIAIP, which was established for insureds unable to obtain auto liability and physical damage coverage in the voluntary market.
