Mississippi approves new web service program, shopping possible vendors

Mississippi’s state legislature voted to create the state’s new web-based motor vehicle insurance verification system. The system will allow the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance, and the Mississippi Department of Revenue to electronically verify a motor vehicle’s insurance status. The state approved the system when it passed Senate Bill 2631 last year. This year, the state is working on selecting a vendor to develop the system.
