Mississippi approves motor vehicle insurance verification system

Earlier this year, the governor of Mississippi approved MS House Bill 946, which revises its current automobile liability insurance reporting (ALIR). Two amendments of particular interest:

  • The Department of Public Safety is required to have its motor vehicle insurance verification system installed and operational no later than March 1, 2016.
  • The department’s verification system may request a book of business no more than every 30 days. In addition, the state cannot require insurers to use any other format than that set forth by the Insurance Data Transfer Guide of the Insurance Industry Committee on Motor Vehicle Administration (IICMVA).

CV-ALIR monitors insurance reporting rules in all states and updates existing customers whenever more information becomes available. If you want to learn more about liability insurance reporting in Mississippi or other states and how CV-ALIR can help, please feel free to contact us.
