Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn approved Bill 5692, also known as the Uninsured Motorist Verification Advisory Committee Act, on July 25, 2014.
This bill called for the appointment of an advisory committee that consists of “representatives of the Department of Insurance, insurance companies authorized to sell motor vehicle liability insurance policies in Illinois, insurance producers, and other interested parties as designated…” The committee will assist in planning and implementing an Auto Liability Insurance Reporting (ALIR) program.
January 31, 2015, is the deadline for program design and funding recommendations. The deadline for program implementation is January 1, 2016, if funding is available.
