How One Insurer Beat the Clock and Expanded Its Business

In ISO’s just-released case study, “Forty-Six States in Two Months: How One Insurer Implemented ISO’s Commercial Auto Rating in Record Time,” an insurer tackles an opportunity to expand its business by partnering with a premier insurance agency. The new venture would complement the insurer’s existing truck business, but to capitalize on the opportunity, it needed to work fast. To meet the agency’s tight deadlines, the insurer had less than two months to implement ISO’s commercial auto rating for 46 states.

To speed the implementation, the insurer used our prebuilt rating and rate management system, ISO Rating Service®, and its newly formatted algorithm files. Rather than “build” the ISO commercial rating plan, the insurer simply called the ISO Rating Service team, which already supported premium calculations, forms attachment logic, stat code assignment, and business edits.
