Alaska Insurance Verification System (AKIVS)

Alaska Statute 28.22.031 generally calls for the Alaska Division of Insurance’s development and implementation of a system for automobile liability insurance reporting (ALIR). The state chose MV Solutions to create and operate the Alaska Insurance Verification System (AKIVS), which consists of a book of business (BOB) file and online verification (OLV) requests. The BOB file will serve as a pointer file for Alaska to know where to direct OLV real-time requests, which will serve as the driver for insurance confirmation.

Alaska has set a deadline of June 30, 2018, for insurers to move to production with AKIVS.

Initially, the state will use AKIVS to confirm coverage after a crash, though the plan is to expand the system’s use in the future. Below is the only error currently being returned by Alaska at a VIN level:
