2012 ISO ClaimSearch Review: Claims ComplianceBy Carlos Martins | April 9, 2013
In 2012, ISO ClaimSearch continued to provide insurers with a number of integrated compliance solutions. Here are some of last year’s accomplishments:
We operated the ISO ClaimSearch Medicare Secondary Payer Reporting Service (MSP on behalf of 689 companies representing more than 2,226 responsible reporting entities (RRE). It included processing approximately 15 million queries each month on behalf of our customers. We also submitted approximately 410,000 new and 114,000 updated records to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
We processed more than 5.1 million total-loss records on behalf of our customers for the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) to meet federal requirements for reporting total-loss and salvage claims.
We continued our active support of the ISO ClaimSearch Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) program, in which more than 650 companies participate. There were 73,309 matches for the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) database in 2012. We passed those matches on to the appropriate agencies on behalf of our customers to facilitate the collection of child support payments.
We launched the ISO ClaimSearch Medicaid Reporting Service. We created the free service for our customers in response to the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services legislation. The law requires all insurers that write workers' compensation or liability policies in Rhode Island to participate in the Medical Assistance Intercept System (MAIS). MAIS intercepts and recovers Medicaid payments to Medicaid recipients if an insurer pays on a claim.
