Brian Sullivan, editor, publisher, and conference chairman, hosted another great Auto Insurance Report National Conference earlier this year in Southern California. Verisk Insurance Solutions was again a conference sponsor.
Sullivan always welcomes speakers with topics that showcase emerging technologies, and this year was no exception. Richard Della Rocca, vice president, ISO Claims Solutions, spoke in his session about the use of license plate recognition (LPR) technology and databases to help track and recover stolen vehicles. ISO recently issued a press release about this exciting new program. During his talk, Della Rocca also discussed potential underwriting applications, such as identifying vehicles with misclassified garaging locations.
Both Verisk Insurance Solutions and TransUnion exhibited at the conference and announced the release of A-PLUS 2.0, the next generation of automobile loss history reports, with significantly improved performance metrics that surpass competing products.
Sullivan spoke passionately about telematics — one of his favorite topics over the years. He pointed out that the industry may be reaching the tipping point with Progressive’s national rollout of its “Snapshot” program. Telematics is now beyond the pilot stage. Sullivan believes the top ten carriers will begin— by necessity— aggressive development plans, with launches by 2014. The rest of the industry will look for turnkey systems.
Sullivan’s Property Insurance Report National Conference will take place in early November at the St. Regis resort in Dana Point, California. Verisk Insurance Solutions will return as a sponsor.
