Verisk Health to Help Atrius Health Identify and Mitigate Healthcare Risk

WALTHAM, Mass., October, 20, 2010 — Verisk Health, Inc., announced today that Atrius Health has selected SightlinesTM Medical Intelligence and DxCG Risk Solutions to identify, manage, and predict healthcare risk across its commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare populations. Atrius Health is a nonprofit alliance of five multi-specialty medical groups in eastern Massachusetts with more than 800 physicians caring for 700,000 patients. Verisk Health is a global leader in the provision of data mining and analytics required to improve healthcare quality and to mitigate healthcare cost risks.

“Gaining analytical insight into the quality and cost drivers, disease burden, and future utilization associated with our patient population is crucial to supporting our mission of caring for the community,” said Rick Lopez, M.D., chief physician executive of Atrius Health. “The Verisk Health solutions will help us identify opportunities to proactively assess and mitigate health risk to improve medical and financial outcomes.”

Atrius Health will use the SightlinesTM solution suite to integrate medical, pharmacy, and eligibility data into one comprehensive database. Sightlines will also allow Atrius Health to apply clinical and business intelligence to identify both problems and opportunities that impact quality of care and costs. The data-driven solutions will enable Atrius Health to improve provider performance and implement strategic business objectives across the organization’s five medical groups, including:

  • forecasting utilization metrics
  • conducting quality of care metrics analysis to identify gaps in care
  • assessing the illness burden of individuals and groups
  • identifying patients at risk for high-cost cases
  • improving clinical metrics
  • identifying provider practice trends for impact on cost and risk

“The need for quality and cost management has never been greater than it is today, and data is the crucial component to drive operations and strategy,” said Chris Kryder, M.D., chief executive officer of Verisk Health. “We are very excited to team with Atrius Health to produce the rapid data aggregation and ever-stronger analytics they need to better inform operational and strategic decisions that make a difference.”

The SightlinesTM solution suite is used by leading healthcare organizations, including health plans, third-party administrators, medical groups, and benefit consultants, to understand and reduce healthcare risk to control costs and improve quality.
