SOUTHFIELD, Mich., and JERSEY CITY, N.J., October 29, 2007 — R. L. Polk & Co., a premier provider of automotive information and marketing solutions to the automotive world, and ISO, a leading provider of risk-related products to the insurance industry, today announced that Polk will now offer the ISO Liability Symbols product for use within its VIN Decoding products on behalf of its insurer, MGA, agent, and third-party rating vendor customers throughout the United States. Based on a review of the actual loss experience of the vehicle make and model, the ISO Liability Symbols product assigns rating factors and rating symbols to vehicles to enable insurers and agents to better rate Personal Auto Liability and Personal Injury Protection (PIP/Medical Payments) coverages.
“We’re committed to offering the latest symbol information through our industry-leading VIN Decoding products to provide integrated solutions and the rating ability that our customers desire,” said Joe Jurkiewicz, vice president of Polk’s Strategic Markets Group. “The addition of ISO Liability Symbols complements our product mix, which already includes ISO Personal Auto Physical Damage Symbols. Our goal is to continuously provide added-value offerings to the marketplace, and our strategic alliance with ISO is an important part of that strategy.”
“We’re delighted that Polk has decided to incorporate ISO Liability Symbols into its product offerings,” said Arthur R. Cadorine, vice president of ISO’s Information Acquisition, Development, and Service Division. “The assignment of the correct vehicle symbol ratings will help Polk and ISO’s mutual customers — insurance companies, agents, MGAs, and third-party rating vendors — to further streamline the personal auto rating process.”
